Biographies of Herati woman poets

Born in Badghis province – neighbouring Herat province – in 1907, Herawi died in the same city where she was born, in 1966. Her real name was Sufora and she started to write when she was only 14.  Initially, she was a member of Herat’s Literature Association and then she started teaching at many girls’ secondary schools.

She founded a madrasa in Kabul. Majuba is one of the most famous poets of the current era, and her poems reach almost 3000 couplets.

Her collections of poems were printed by Mohammad Alam Ghawas in 1968.
